Taraba State Governor, Mr. Danbaba Suntai, escaped death yesterday after a plane he was flying crashed in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. The governor, his aide-de-camp and chief security officer, who were also in the plane that took off from Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, and three others were seriously injured. Ondo State Governor and Labour Party candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Saturday won the election in the polling unit of his arch-opponent and Action Congress of Nigeria candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu. In results declared at the Ijebu 2 Ward 5 Unit 6 in Owo, Ondo State, Mimiko got 144 votes; Akeredolu, 139; Olusola Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party, 35; while the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria garnered three; COngress for Progressive Change, three; and Better Nigeria Peoples Party, two.
